The family was pretty happy with this one.
Had some homemade Chili going. See recipe below.
Used the bread machine to get dough going. Than baked and cut tops off while it was hot.
Took out the extra bread and fought off the urge to munch on it. Oh the smell of fresh baked bread. And there was the result.
Homemade Chili
(Crock Pot Version)
(Crock Pot Version)
- Pick through Half bag of pinto beans, throwing out bad ones.
- Rinse well and soak over night.
- In the morning, rinse beans and put in crock pot on high.
Add the following ingredients
- 1/2 to 1 pound of (browned) ground beef
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
Towards the end (when beans are tender) I like to add a small can of tomato sauce or 1/2 can of tomato paste, depending on what I have on hand.
You can add 5-7 crushed Tortilla Chips or 2 TBSP corn meal for thick and yummy texture.
At the end of a hard days work, it is totally Yummy!

Love chili bowls! When I'm pressed for time and can't make my own bread, I like to use Pillsbury's Grands (biscuits)…I turn my muffin pan over, spread the pre-made dough over each inverted muffin cup, bake, and ta-dah…instant chili bowls (idea compliments of good ole' Paula Deen)!
mmmm that is a good idea…
