Today it was my daughter’s turn to bring a snack to school. So we decided to make little sugar cookies and frost them. I didn’t want to make a big mess in the sink with a bunch of dirty bowls and spoons, so we made a frosting pallet instead.
We had the following on hand: Duncan Hines Whipped, Food Coloring and a plastic platter that I just love.

We dolloped small amounts of frosting on our pallet.

Then we added the color:

I blended the colors in with a toothpick:

Now she is ready to work. She just used a little butter knife to frost her cookies. Had we been more elaborate, we would have used zip locks.

Clean up was super easy, wish I had thought of this simple thing a long time ago. I would show you pictures of the finished cookies, but like the big goof ball that I am, I completely forgot to take pictures.
Her cookies were a big hit.

Hi Momma Young,
I love the frosting idea, I would never have thought of it!! It is such a neat idea, and what a fun way to frost cookies. I have kids coming for a cookie party in Dec and I was dreading it, I will have to tell my friend about this idea and I will tell you how it worked for us, We dont knwo how many kids yet, why did I volunteer to hold it at my house:)
Oh Sara, its crazy, but such a blast! We had a big decorating session last Christmas. We used ziplocks with tiny wholes cut in the corner to decorate. Here is a link to it: http://mommayoung.com/2008/12/15/christmas-sugar-cookies/
I can’t wait to hear about how it worked.
I need to get one of those plastic platters. Heck, I could use the lid from one of the many plastic containers I have lying around the house!! LOL What a cool idea, I think it’s pure genius!! Thanks for sharing!!
Your very welcome. Have fun and tell me how it goes.

What a great idea! I will have to remember this – my sink always seems to be full! lol
