This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Wheat Food Council. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do the kids every ask, “how do they make bread Mom?”  Well now you can sit down together and learn, virtually.

How Wheat Works has a pretty neat interactive program where we see all the stages of wheat’s life.   We simply pick the wheat product we want to track ie… bread, tortilla’s, pancakes (I picked tortillas). Each day we virtually watch one step in the life of wheat and how it is achieved:

  • Day 1 Plant the wheat
  • Day 2 Harvest
  • Day 3 Mill
  • Day 4 But it, Bake it and Virtually Eat it.

This is a  fun way to learn how wheat becomes bread.   My kids enjoyed learning how their bread, which they LOVE so much, made it to the table.

The best part is for every person who has completed the forth and final phase/day, the Wheat Food Council will donate 2 pounds of flour to OperationHomeFront.net.  Operation Home Front is a non-profit organization that assists US Troops in need and their families.  While I can’t afford to financially help, this is a very easy way to help them.  It is painful to know that any of our troops are in need, they  sacrifice so much and should have everything their family needs.

The Wheat Foods Council will donate up to 90,000 pounds of flour.  That is a whole lot of bread or to be exact 1.4 million muffins.  These donations are made possible by ADM and ConAgra.

There are other great resources on the Wheat Council’s website   www.wheatfoods.org; cookbooks with great recipes for kids and virtually learning tools the they will like.
