Decorating my mantle…

Written on December 4th, 2009 by MommaYoungone shout

We got all our decorations up, but than I looked at our mantle and this is what I seen:

Blah Mantle & Wall

Than I thought, there has to be something for me to get or work with at the Dollar Store (Yes, I shop there a lot.  If I mess something up, it didn’t break my wallet.)

They had tons of little things, but no signs or Christmas type posters for the wall.  Than I caught a glance of these HUGE gift bags with some pretty festive pics:

What I decided to do was cut out the cute images on a couple of bags and put up on the wall along with a couple of other things I found.  Here is the finished Mantle/Fireplace/Wall:

The whole wall is basically a picture frame.  I thought I don’t know, will the kids like it.

Than when we brought the kids home and my ballerina seen this:

My ballerina's first view...

She started jumping up and down over and over again saying “oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!”  That is all we needed!

Crafting Christmas Ornaments

Written on December 3rd, 2009 by MommaYoung6 shouts

We found some neat felt cut outs at one of our Dollar Trees.  There were various shapes and colors.  The ones I found were over 12″ tall and I thought these would look great as wall decor and a fun craft for the kids to make.

We only needed the felt ornament, Elmer’s glue and glitter, which were were able to get at the dollar store except the Elmer’s we had that on hand.

Ornament Craft Supplies

I laid out newspaper all over the table thinking it would help keep the glitter off the floor, LOL Yea right Momma!  Oh I am funny sometimes.

Gave the kids their ornaments, glue, glitter and they went to town.  They only seemed to need my help to unclog the dried up glue.

My teenager isn’t in the pics because she is at a TSO concert with her Aunties, Uncle & Cousins.

The kids were pretty glitter heavy so on a couple of occasions we ran out of glitter. At that point all we did was fold the newspaper the ornaments were on and tilted it over the glitter container and they were ready to continue on. Here are the finished products:

That’s it. The kids were really into it! Have fun with your next craft.
